Green energies are clean, inexhaustible and highly competitive energy sources. That are collected from renewable resources, which are naturally replenished on a human timescale, such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat.

How to identify green energies?

When we talk about ecological energies, we refer to all those energies obtained from sources that are environmentally friendly. Also, they differ from fossil fuels mainly because of their diversity, abundance and potential for use wherever they are located, but above all in that they do not produce greenhouse gases and much less polluting emissions. In addition, their costs evolve in a sustainable way, while the general trend of fossil fuels is the opposite. Unlike fossil fuels, green energy sources replenish naturally and are in continuous supply.

Green energy types

  • Wind energy: It is obtained from the wind.
  • Solar energy: It is obtained from the sun. As for the main technologies are solar photovoltaic, take advantage of sunlight, and solar thermal, takes advantage of the sun’s heat.
  • Hydroelectric energy: It is obtained from rivers and freshwater streams.
  • Biomass and biogas:  They are extracted from organic matter. Biomass is produced when organic wastes like trees, wood waste, and agricultural residues decay. This waste can be converted to fuel through combustion for the generation of electricity.
  • Geothermal energy: It is energy contained in Earth’s interior.
  • Tidal energy: It is obtained from the tides.
  • Wave energy: The energy obtained from the waves.
  • Bioethanol: Organic fuel suitable for the automotive industry that is achieved through fermentation processes of vegetable products.
  • Biodiesel: Organic fuel for autos, among other applications, which is obtained from vegetable oils.

The transition from fossil to green energies would have a positive economic effect. Besides, these energies also provide sustainability, environmental safety and social independence.  As such green energy development is vital for combating climate change and limiting its most devastating effects.
